Housing: Ferrets acclimate well to average household temperatures but don't need to be in extreme temperatures and don't need to be in direct sunlight or drafty areas. Anything above 80 degrees is not good for your ferret and can cause heat stroke or other health problems. Some people keep their ferrets outside but it is dangerous and deadly for your pet so keep them inside in a temperature controlled environment.

Bedding: 1-2 inches of bedding should be placed in the habitat. Proper bedding could be hardwood shavings and pelleted or recycled products. While some kinds of wood shavings are fine for ferrets, they prefer cloth bedding. Cedar bedding may cause harm and is not recommended.

*Remember, ferrets need a large, multi-tiered wire-sided habitat with good ventilation, a secure door, a solid floor, and a pullout tray for easy cleaning. Opening between wires should be small so the cage is escape-proof. Its habitat should include some hammocks, tubes, a litter box, and tons toys!
