Feeding: Food and fresh water should always be available. Food for ferrets 16 weeks and and younger should be moistened before feeding to make it easy to consume.
Even though kitten or cat food is used, It is strongly recommended you use food that is made for ferrets because it has the protein a ferret needs for a healthy life. DO NOT feed them dairy products, dog food, chocolate, sugary foods and beverages, caffeine, alcohol, salty foods, seeds, or nuts. Ferrets are obligated carnivores so fruits and
vegetables are not recommended.
Treats: Treats should be cooked meat. You may use treats from the pet store but most are not too healthy.
Vitamin Supplements: A few drops of Ferretone or a pea sized dab of Ferretvite should suffice as a daily treat. Don't follow the directions on the bottle, your ferret's food contains vitamin A as well. Always be aware of the dangers of possible vitamin A toxicity. For this reason, it is not advisable to give your ferret too much of any supplement, even though they may really enjoy it.
